The Society for the Promotion of Byzantine Studies invites papers for its Armenia and Byzantium without borders III – travel grants. These enable PhD candidates and early-career scholars to take part in a workshop focusing on social and cultural mobility between Armenia and Byzantium in the Middle Ages.
Applicants must be working in the fields of late antique, Armenian, Byzantine, and Middle Eastern studies. They must submit a paper on with a focus on aspects of social and cultural mobility of persons, objects or ideas between Armenia and Byzantium throughout the Middle Ages, to be presented at the workshop. Applications from those researching interaction and communication on both literary and material grounds are particularly welcomed. Grants cover travel and accommodation expenses.
